To expand its worldwide reach, China Daily Global Edition was launched on January 2, 2019 along with the website, app and social media account. China Daily website (chinadaily.com.cn), launched in 1995, is China's first national English-language website. It has become a comprehensive multimedia outlet platform and is now China's most influential English-language web portal.
China Daily also has a continually-improving app as well as accounts on well-known social media such as Sina Weibo, WeChat, Facebook and Twitter. By the end of December 2020, the app downloads worldwide surpassed 35 million, putting it in the unique position of being the only English-language news app which has more than 10 million downloads.
